Our Faculty Success and Wellness Day provides an introduction to some contemplative practices to help balance our busy lives. This day is an opportunity to nourish ourselves both intellectually and holistically, to explore wellness practices for self-care. When we take care of ourselves, both mentally and physically, we provide an example for our students. We see faculty success as a whole-person inclusive daily practice. We hope some of the things we practice and learn on this day will help all of us build a self-care practice going forward.

Our first annual Faculty Success and Wellness Day took place in 2019. Those who attended share an overwhelmingly positive response to their experience. For fall 2020, we hosted wellness day in a virtual format. You can find session recordings available by topic area here.  Topics covered included:

  • Detox Your Textbook with Open Educational Resources
  • Preserving Time and Peace: Patterns and Paths in Google Products
  • Gratitude and Positivity: Informal Student Feedback and Classroom Climate
  • Caring for Self While Caring for Family
  • Relearn to Relax
  • Better Nights Ahead
  • Mindfulness in the Classroom
  • Tips for Faculty Success and Having a Life

As a follow up to the event, we put together a folder which contains resources such as reflective exercises, a 30-day self care challenge, to tips on successfully working from home, and links to yoga, meditation and Tai Chi videos.  You will also find materials from the fall 2020 Wellness Day sessions, such as slide decks.
